Straight Eight Duesenbergs (Model A)
Information about Model A Duesenbergs is at least as rare as the cars themselves,
but the advent of the internet
now offers
another source of information as these old cars come to light and are sold
at auction. After a long
hiatus, I've started to work on this index again, and have recently added
several new pictures of Model As. Most
sources say there are about 50 that survive, some say 60. I have
pictures here of about two dozen that are known.
The
pictures framed in green indicate that the car is extant.
Fred Roe's book includes a chart of production chassis numbers according to
years: 1922: 600 -748; 1923: 749 - 989; 1924:
990 - 1016; 1925: 1017 - 1145; 1926:
1146 - 1202. The last Model As in 1926 where numbered using the Fedco saftey numbering system, D61A - D61Z,
D63A - D63?
