Only one of four Model Js sold in the Canadian
market. Van Horne sold it to William Christie. In 1931 Christie
traded the car to a Cadillac
dealership, who sold it to Arnold Burke of Toronto. Burke sent the car
back to Duesenberg to have the current body fitted. Alan Thurn of
Pennsylvania became the owner in 1957. In 1959 he sold it to Tom
Landreth of Galt, Ontario. Landreth restored the car and sold it to Ed
Hedges in 1962. Hedges died the following year and the car was sold to
Al Rodway of Ohio. The changed ownership in 1969, 1974 and again
in 1978 to Larry and Melvin Kopp, who kept the car for nearly a decade.
Next the car was owned by George Walthers, followed by RM Classic
Cars in 1996. Then Roger Wilbanks of Denver. Traded to RM
Auctions in 2004, who sold it. In 2008 it sold at Automobiles of
Amelia by RM
Auctions for $1.21 million. [data from conceptcarz.com]
